Islamic months begin with the sighting of the moon, so local dates can differ by a day from the calendar. Use the adjustment to match your local announcement.

About this hijri date converter

The Hijri calendar is a lunar calendar used for Ramadan, Eid, Hajj and other Islamic dates. Its months last 29 or 30 days, and its year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. This converter uses your browser's built-in Islamic calendars. Umm al-Qura follows Saudi Arabia's official calculation, while the civil calendar is a fixed arithmetic version. Because many countries start months after local moon sighting, an adjustment lets you shift the result by a day or two.

How to use it

  1. Choose a calendar and, if needed, a moon-sighting adjustment.
  2. Pick a Gregorian date to see the Hijri date, or enter a Hijri date to find the Gregorian one.
  3. Check your local announcement for religious dates such as Ramadan and Eid.
