BMI Calculator

Body mass index and healthy weight range for adults.

BMI is a general screening measure for adults. It does not account for muscle, age or body shape. Speak to a doctor for health advice.

About this bmi calculator

Body mass index is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. The World Health Organization groups adults as underweight below 18.5, healthy from 18.5 to 24.9, overweight from 25 to 29.9 and obese at 30 or above. BMI is a quick screening number, not a diagnosis. It does not separate muscle from fat, so athletes can score high, and it behaves differently for older adults. Use the healthy range as a rough guide and talk to a doctor for personal advice.

How to use it

  1. Choose metric or imperial.
  2. Enter height and weight.
  3. Read your BMI, category and healthy weight range.
